Girl About SHEFFIELD

Hey, I’m Vicky.
Born and bred Yorkshire, I’m 35 years old and live in Sheffield with my husband (Warren), threenager (Emily) and newborn twins (Erin and Leah).
I fell in love with Sheffield when I moved from York in 2002 to undertake a business and marketing degree at Hallam University and my heart has never left the city. I thought I was destined for London. But after a 15-month stint during my degree, where I was so skint I had to loiter around supermarkets at closing time to raid the whoopsie shelves and was rationed to one Weetabix for breakfast, I gratefully returned to Sheff where people openly talk to strangers and it’s ok to eat chips with gravy.
I met Warren on my very last night living in Sheffield after finishing my degree through my passionate hate for RnB music. We got married in Sheffield in 2013, and Emily crashed into our lives a year later.
Emily is energetic, opinionated, bossy, stubborn, never stops talking and incredibly funny. I love hanging out with her. She is my excuse for unleashing my love of crafts again and baking with lots of sugar.
2018 has been intense. Twins. I’m not sure I need to say much more. It was never something that had ever crossed my mind but we now have two little extra people in our family and I can’t imagine it to be any other way. Although, I do now spend my daily life smiling sweetly at the comments such as “Double trouble”, “two for the price of one”, “buy one get one free” …… my patience is wearing thin already.
I’ve always been active and outdoorsy. I’ve been lucky enough to climb Kilimanjaro, run the London marathon and cycle across France into Paris all for a charity close to my heart. I used to do triathlons and open water swimming, but this has gone by the wayside of late….
Other things I love: eating, music, arty stuff and talking. My years of going to Glasto are completely numbered, but I do try to get out to see bands and DJ’s… there is literally nothing better than dancing to live music with a beer in hand.
So I’m now Girl about Sheffield. I’ve never written a blog or done any kind of personal writing, unless you count a diary when I was eight years old. I’m mega excited to embark on something completely different whilst on maternity leave from being a marketing manager. I will no doubt give you insight into what life with three little ones in tow is like too….
