Launch of new Yorkshire’s Best Adventures film series.

Launch of new Yorkshire’s Best Adventures film series : Girl About Yorkshire has proved to be somewhat of a big hit since I launched the blog in April 2016.

For something that started off as a bit of an experiment, it seems my sarcasm, wit and humour, and my self-confessed snobbery has turned me into a bit of a local hero in the eyes of some. And into a bit of a tw*t in the eyes of others. Still, I can’t be everyone’s cup of Yorkshire tea.

In just over a year, I’ve had a mahoosive 195,000 hits to my blog, I now have over 16,000 Facebook followers and a fair few of Instagram and Twitter ones too.

I was asked for my autograph the other day can you believe? A lovely lady called Mavis clocked me over the veg in Morrisons, whipped out a copy of The Ilkley Gazette from her shopping bag, passed me the pen she was using to cross out the items of her shopping list, and asked me if I’d squiggle my autograph across the front page!

So… I’m about to take my fame to a whole new level

I’m excited to announce, that along with a friend, Yorkshire man and national press travel journalist – Jimbo Ellis who writes regularly for The Times and The Sun, we’ve launched a series of short films based around Yorkshire’s best adventures and experiences.

Many of you are used to seeing my Instagram feed filled with shameless selfies of me with my hair quaffed, my face painted and my heels on. Be prepared to be shocked as ditch the Louboutins and cocktails in favour of waterproofs, helmets, thermals, a  Go-Pro… and my gold lame trainers. I’ll be stepping right outside of my (very pathetic) comfort zone as James and I take on some of Yorkshire’s best adventures.

Yorkshire's Best Adventures

The plan is to road test 99 of Yorkshire’s Best Adventures – we’ll be the stars of the show along with the owners of the adventures we select. And here and there we might rope in our mums, mates, other-halves and even offspring.

Tune into our 5 minute films made so far…

(WARNING – If you have a dairy intolerance you night not want to watch)

We’ve zoomed across the Yorkshire Dales channelling our inner Calendar Girls on the coldest day of the year on a boom trike with local celebrity and owner of award-winning Yorkshire Trike Tours Jason Richards.

We’ve spent the afternoon in York with Tim Barber who is the owner of Real Yorkshire Tours. He took us on a private historic walking tour of the city. Tim is a Yorkshire Blue Badge tour guide and this nothing this chap doesn’t know about York and its history.

We’ve been covered from head to toe in mud as we drove quad bikes through the forest up at Camp Hill Estate in North Yorkshire.

And last weekend, ahead of the Tour De Yorkshire this weekend, we cycled a whopping 15 miles across the incredibly hilly North York Moors with the lovely Andrea from Cycle Tours Yorkshire. It was tough terrain but I didn’t even break into a sweat!

Next in the series is an outdoor photography workshop. Them I’m going to be trying my hand at dry-stone walling on the Otley Chevin and we’ll be taking part in a fossil hunting adventure in Robin Hoods Bay.

Make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel and sign up to our newsletter,  that way you’ll be notified every time we post a new film. And give us a LIKE on Facebook too please.  If you are on Instagram, follow us on their too, and if you hashtag your adventures in Yorkshire with #YorkshiresBestAdventures we will regram as many as we can.

We’ll also be running some ace competitions and giving away some fabulous prizes along the way.

We hope you cringe as much as we do when you watch them. And just maybe, you’ll be inspired to have a go at some of the many fantastic experiences and adventures across our breathtaking county.

You can book them all via www.yorkshiresbestadventures.co.uk
